Racemes and panicles occur widely across plant families. Even casual observers are likely acquainted with some examples. But what of an umbel? Those who grow herbs, like dill and fennel, and vegetables, like carrots, can recognize umbels. These plants belong to the Apiaceae, also known as the Umbelliferae (the umbel-bearing family).
Master Gardeners at the Glencarlyn Library have been renovating the garden beds along the parking lot. As the growing season progresses, local residents will see dozens of new plantings and a more intentional, holistic design that highlights native plants.
